The Zimbabwean government is considering partnerships with several satellite internet providers to expand services in the country and reduce costs, reported Tatenda Mavetera, minister of information and communication technologies, postal and courier services.
“We are a landlocked country, so just getting data from where it came from already incurs costs. What we can do is consider other innovative ways. If this means that we have to use satellite companies, it cannot only concern one particular company, namely Starlink,” said Mavetera.

Tejas Networks has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Telecom Egypt, NTI (National Telecom Institute) and ITIDA (Information Technology Industry Development Agency) to replicate its experience implementing the BharatNet project in rural India and NKN (National Knowledge Network) projects in Egypt.
Tejas Networks said that other broad areas of cooperation will include building local manufacturing and R&D facilities for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) products, capacity building of Egyptian engineers and technicians on state-of-the-art telecom and networking technologies, and setting up technical support services in Egypt, both for customers in the country as well as for the broader African and Middle East region.

The Kenyan government, through the Universal Service Fund, will invest 10 billion shillings to connect 8.4 million homes to the internet by 2027.
According to Edward Kisiang'ani, secretary of state for telecommunications, the government will rely on the electricity poles of the national electricity company to deploy aerial optical fibre across the country.

The government of Niger State in Nigeria has decided to exempt an unidentified private fibre optic company from paying rights of way for an infrastructure deployment project on its territory.
The plan will see a 40km optical fibre metropolitan ring across Minna installed.
