Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Ghana's minister of communications and digitalisation, is calling for internet traffic aggregation at interconnection hubs across the continent, which she believes will attract international operators to establish points of presence.
At the 12th edition of the African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF), Owusu-Ekuful emphasised the importance of a strong peering and interconnection ecosystem for the successful implementation of Ghana's digital goals.
"This will permit local traffic and promote ICT, which is crucial for any nation wishing to participate fully in the global Internet economy. It will enhance the end-user experience, bring down access costs, and encourage the growth of regional Internet ecosystems,” said Owusu-Ekuful. She highlighted the need to support internet traffic aggregation at interconnection hubs, stating that it would attract multinational operators to establish points of presence.
