The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, in partnership with Orange Sierra Leone, officially inaugurated a new mobile network site in Mathonkra, Tenie Chiefdom.

This expansion aims to deliver faster, more reliable mobile connectivity to thousands of residents in the region, marking a significant step toward strengthening Sierra Leone’s digital infrastructure.

This milestone aligns with national efforts to improve access to digital services for education, commerce, and community development. The new site is part of Orange Sierra Leone’s broader strategy to extend coverage into rural areas and promote digital inclusion across the country.

Currently operating over 616 sites nationwide, Orange Sierra Leone is actively expanding its infrastructure footprint. The company has integrated green energy solutions across 70% of its network, constructed 40 new sites this year, and invested $50 million to upgrade its entire network to be fully 4G and 5G-capable.

This ongoing expansion underscores Orange Sierra Leone’s dedication to bridging the digital divide, supporting government initiatives for a more connected and inclusive nation. By bringing advanced mobile connectivity to underserved communities, the company aims to foster socio-economic development and ensure no community is left behind in Sierra Leone’s digital revolution.
