22 April 2024

Orange, the European Union (EU) and German cooperation (GIZ) have signed a partnership agreement for the development of green agriculture through digital technology.

The ‘DigiGreen & Agri’ project is part of a strategic vision aimed at modernizing agriculture and initiating a transition towards a green economy, with emphasis on the cocoa sector. Among its objectives are improving the employability of young people in the digital field, with a focus on young people in rural areas, women and girls, as well as people with disabilities. Additionally, the project is committed to supporting SMEs and start-ups in the development of innovative digital technologies.

Led by the Orange Digital Center and the Orange Côte d'Ivoire Foundation, with the support of GIZ, the project will extend over a period of 36 months, from January 2024 to December 2026. With a total budget of 7.6 million euros, it will be financed by financial contributions from the EU, BMZ and Orange Côte d'Ivoire.

Over the next three years, the project aims to train 2,000 beneficiaries in digital skills, with the aim of professionally integrating at least 800 of them. In addition, the project aims to realize 100 innovative ideas and strengthen the capacities of 20 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as well as startups.
