Onix Data Centers Ltd has launched a carrier-neutral data centre in Dakar, Senegal.

The construction of this level 3 infrastructure cost more than 4 billion CFA francs. It is installed near the landing station of the 2Africa fibre optic submarine cable.

The new infrastructure should bring significant benefits not only to local businesses, but also to governments and public institutions in West Africa, stated Pape Gueye, co-CEO of the La Colombe group, Onix's partner in Senegal.

"By providing secure and reliable access to data services, the data centre can support these organizations' digitization efforts, helping them improve their services and better serve their communities,” said Gueye.

The construction of a data centre in Senegal aligns with Onix's mission to provide premium neutral colocation and connectivity services in West Africa as demand for digital services continues to grow in the region. To this end, the company wants to establish a pan-African data centre platform. It already has a Tier 4 data centre in Accra, Ghana.
