Ethio Telecom takes major strides in mobile expansion

Ethio Telecom, Ethiopia's state operator, is increasing it pace by advancing its mobile services nationwide. 

This move was boosted with the collaboration of global leading ICT infrastructure and smart devices provider, Huawei in the launching of 4G LTE.

The latter advanced mobile service was launched April 8 in the east of Ethiopia precisely, including Jigjiga, Qabridahar, Godey, Fiiq and Iyo Wardheer.

“It opens a new chapter and brings an immediate impact on congested areas of telecom service," said Frehiwot Tamiru, CEO of Ethio Telecom. "Our delivery teams worked day and night to meet the target. Regardless of all the challenges, we are proud and over joyed to bring you the best LTE advanced service.”

With the aspirations to become a preferred telecom operator among customers and partners in Ethiopia, Ethio Telecom aims for a better service quality, accessibility, and service expansion notably in Addis Ababa and other regions during the fiscal year 2020/2021.

However, Ethiopia is open for private domestic and foreign investment with South Africa’s MTN Group, Vodacom Group giving showing initial interest. The presence of these companies will definitely strengthen the telecom sector and speed up more its expansion plans to remote areas.
