Volin is RSCC's new DG

State-backed Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) has named Alexey Volin as its new director general.

He is expected to address at RSCC are strengthening and modernisation of the existing satellite constellation, maintaining the operator's market position in an increasingly competitive environment, providing communication services for remote regions of northern Russia and participating in international cooperation and in the work of the International Organization for Space Communications (IOSC) Intersputnik.

From July 2012 to October 2020, Volin served as deputy minister of digital development, communications and mass media of the Russian Federation. In that role, he was responsible for the digitisation of Russian television and the shutdown of analogue broadcasting in the country.

Volin's long and varied career in governmental and commercial roles also includes stints as first deputy chairman of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) in 1998-2000 and general director of the Amedia Film Company in 2007.

He was appointed by the country’s Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media and his appointment was effective June 28.
