Ghanaian telecom consumers should expect a reduction in the cost of internet data services by the end of the year, according to Joe Anokye, the director general of the National Communications Authority (NCA).
According to Anokye, this reduction in internet costs will be a direct consequence of the entry into service of the neutral shared infrastructure company Next-Gen InfraCo (NGIC).
The NCA’s announcement comes amid widespread discontent among Ghanaian telecom consumers who are complaining about the poor quality of data services and the high cost of telecom operators’ offerings. Some even believe that this is linked to MTN’s classification as a dominant operator and the measures related to it.
