Tmcel has partnered with Ericsson to modernise its operational and commercial support systems.
The collaboration is expected to improve network performance, facilitate the personalisation of offers for subscribers and accelerate the telecom operator’s digital transformation.
“At Tmcel, our commitment to Mozambique is based on providing reliable and innovative services to our customers. Our partnership with Ericsson is a key step in delivering on this commitment, enabling us to improve our operational efficiency and deliver better and more responsive services to our subscribers. By modernizing our monetization suite with Ericsson, we ensure that we can meet the evolving needs of our community and contribute to the nation’s digital future,” said Mahomed Mussá, Chairman of the Management Committee of Tmcel.
Improving operational support systems is among the measures planned by the Mozambican government to revitalize the struggling Tmcel. The state-owned company recorded a loss of 2.1 billion meticals in 2023, following 2022 losses of nearly 4.3 billion meticals.
According to Todd Ashton, Ericsson’s vice president and head of Eastern and Southern Africa, the partnership will give Tmcel the flexibility and scalability to “adapt to changing customer demands and remain competitive in the market.”
