MainOne has integrated the Equiano submarine cable into its network in a move aimed at strengthening the resilience of its infrastructure by offering increased redundancy to its business customers.
In March 2024, several submarine cables suffered outages that disrupted internet access in 13 African countries located on the west coast of Africa. These incidents highlighted the need for diverse and robust connectivity infrastructure. These service interruptions can have a considerable economic impact.
Integrating the Equiano cable into MainOne's network is expected to allow the company to offer its customers immediate relief in the event of further outages, at no additional cost.
