Tizeti in talks with NigComSat to expand solar-powered internet across Nigeria

11 June 2025

Nigerian startup Tizeti has announced that it is in early-stage discussions with Nigeria’s state-owned satellite operator NigComSat. If successful, this partnership could significantly accelerate Tizeti’s nationwide network expansion, bringing affordable connectivity to even the most remote communities.

Tizeti is rapidly scaling its operations in response to the surging demand for broadband connectivity driven by Nigeria’s digital transformation. In November 2023, the company secured an undisclosed loan to expand into 10 additional Nigerian states, bringing its total coverage to 15 states. It also signed a partnership with US-based tech giant Microsoft in May 2024 to connect approximately 5 million people across Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire. The company previously partnered with French satellite operator Eutelsat in November 2022.

The interest in satellite-based connectivity stems from its potential to ensure universal access, particularly in rural and sparsely populated areas where traditional infrastructure deployment is costly and complex.
