The partnership will see Digital Realty join LINX’s new interconnection fabric, LINX Accra, which is set to go live in the coming weeks.
Digital Realty is nearing completion of its new state-of-the-art data centre, ACR2, located in the heart of Accra. Situated close to several submarine landing stations, this facility leverages Ghana’s status as one of Africa’s most connected countries, thanks to the presence of six major subsea cable systems. Ghana’s digital landscape has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, driven by this extensive international connectivity.
Launched in late 2024, LINX Accra will serve as a new internet exchange point (IXP), providing scalable, future-proof solutions to support Ghana’s evolving digital ecosystem. It will be the third African location for LINX, following the successful launch of LINX Nairobi in 2023 and LINX Mombasa earlier this year, both in partnership with iColo, a Digital Realty company. This expansion underscores LINX’s broader strategy to enhance internet infrastructure across Africa and foster a more connected, resilient digital environment.
“We are excited to be embarking on this new journey with Digital Realty in Ghana. Our strong relationships with partners across our hubs in the UK, US, and Kenya give us confidence that this extension will be a success and further strengthen the internet ecosystem in Africa,” said Nurani Nimpuno, Head of Global Engagement at LINX.
Digital Realty has been a key partner for LINX, providing interconnection solutions in London and North Virginia for several years. Its recent entry into Africa with Nairobi and Mombasa demonstrates its commitment to regional connectivity and digital transformation.
“Welcoming LINX to our new data centre in Ghana is a key milestone. As demand for low-latency connectivity increases, this partnership will help shape the region’s digital future by enabling greater access, resilience, and integration into the global internet fabric,” said Joseph Koranteng, Managing Director of Digital Realty Ghana.
Once operational, LINX Accra will offer a multi-site, interconnected, and resilient fabric that provides low-latency services such as peering, enabling networks and service providers to improve performance and expand their reach across Ghana and beyond.
