2023 was a fabulous year for the African wireless communications sector.

Reporting on the news, I have a firsthand view of all the latest news and developments, which has been filled with a flurry of activity and heavy investment in telecommunications infrastructure of all kinds. Mobile networks continue to evolve to newer generations across the continent, while IoT and Industry 4.0 applications spread far and wide. Artificial intelligence (AI) has started to earn its place in real-word telecommunications networks, especially within value added services (VAS) for mobile.

Looking to the future, I’d welcome more personal input from our readers at amys@kadiumpublishing.com – whether you have ideas to share, stories to tell, comments, feedback, etc. I’m eager to be closer in touch with the entire wireless communications community, of which our readers play a valuable part.

Don’t forget to connect with us on LinkedIn (@Northern African Wireless Communications & Southern African Wireless Communications) and X (@AfWiComms) to stay up to date with the latest news, insights and features; and share your favourite pieces with colleagues and contacts.

I’d like to personally thank all our editorial contributors and commercial partners for the year, whose insights and ideas have proven invaluable. I look forward to continuing to work together and deepening those collaborations in 2024.
