9mobile plans to enter the 5G segment, according to Karn Gulati, director of strategy and transformation.

“We are particularly focused on meeting the technology needs of young people, aligning their internal operations with digital advancements, such as the transition of sites from 2G to 4G and plans to enter the 5G market. This customer-centric approach aims to transform our products and services while improving overall customer satisfaction,” said Gulati.

The initiative is part of the actions announced by 9mobile to become more competitive to win back shares of the highly competitive Nigerian telecom market. The company has invested N70 billion in an ongoing network upgrade and expansion campaign. This includes the deployment of new sites equipped with 4G LTE, the extension of the fibre optic network, as well as other technical, digital, and organizational improvements.

With 5G, 9mobile will be able to attract new customers and improve its market share in a context marked by growing demand for high-speed connectivity. The company has 13.6 million subscribers for a market share of 6.18%, according to the latest data from the NCC.
