Mauritius Telecom explores African acquisitions

10 October 2023

Mauritius Telecom is evaluating expansion opportunities in several African countries, said Kapil Reesaul, managing director of the company, in an interview reported by Bloomberg.

The company is evaluating potential acquisitions in Seychelles, Madagascar, Congo, and Ghana.

“We have the resources and the capacity to invest, we are supported by reputable banks thanks to our solid financial base. We are therefore looking for new and niche markets where we are confident that we can replicate what we have achieved in Mauritius,” said Reesaul.

If successful, Mauritius Telecom's expansion project will strengthen its position in the growing continental telecoms market, taking advantage of the growing demand for connectivity in a context of accelerated digital transformation. This will also increase and diversify its sources of income.
