The centre is now functional and is equipped with equipment for receiving and decoding data. It is located at the Cité du savoir, in Diamniadio, some 30km from the Dakar city centre.
The data reception and control centre will be managed by professor Gayane Faye, coordinator of the SenSat program. He will be assisted by a team of 13 engineers and technicians already trained thanks to a partnership with the Montpellier university space centre.
The government is preparing the reception of GaindeSat, the first Senegalese satellite, whose delivery is scheduled for 10 November. Launching the satellite is the first step of the SenSat program, which aims to make the space sector a real lever for the socio-economic development of Senegal.
